CASPER, Wyo. — The weekend has arrived and not a moment too late. After a brief winter storm, the sun is shining, there are birds chirping and there’s a whole city to conquer, if you want to. There’s a ton going on this weekend, from a chili cook-off to a sock hop, after parties and more. This is everything happening on Saturday in the Oil City.
It’s a Saturday in late February which means it’s time for the annual API Chili Cook-off, happening at 11 a.m. This year’s theme is ‘medieval times,’ but there’s nothing evil about this yearly tradition.
Come to The Ford Wyoming Center on Saturday for a myriad of different kinds of chili, red and green, as well as beer and more. This is the perfect Saturday party and the entire community is invited. Tickets can be purchased here.
Happening at 11 a.m.
Of course, what’s the API Chili Cook-off if not an excuse to party all day, right? Gruner Brothers Brewing knows that and it wants to keep the party going, with its afterparty, happening from 1 to 10 p.m.
‘Party on Wayne!’ the event page states. ‘Join us for live music, beer specials and more for the chili cookoff after party!’
Happening at 1 p.m.
One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock rock! Let’s return to Happy Days on Saturday, bcause the Casper Senior Center is hosting a Soda Shop and Sock Hop, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for a single, $15 for a couple.
‘Join us for a fantastic throwback to yesteryear with a chance to enjoy soda served by skaters (from the A’Salt Creek Roller Derby team) and dance the night away!’ the event page states.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the ukulele? Of course you have. Who hasn’t? Well, now’s your chance, as the Natrona County Library is hosting a ukulele jam from 3 to 4 p.m.
‘Strum along at our Ukulele Jam sessions!’ the event page states. ‘Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, join us to learn and play songs together on the ukulele. Don’t worry if you’ve never played before – no previous experience is necessary to enjoy the fun. Bring your own ukulele (BYOU) or borrow one from our Library of Things, and get ready to make some music. We’ll provide the sheet music, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and love for music. This recurring event is a great opportunity to meet fellow ukulele enthusiasts, learn new tunes, and just have a great time jamming out. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new hobby or simply enjoy playing in a group, our Ukulele Jam is the perfect place to be.’
Happening at 3 p.m.
The Montessori School of Casper’s annual Champagne & Chocolates fundraiser is happening Saturday night, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Industrial Building of the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds.
